Alex Fisher

To his colleagues, Alex is renowned for his intellect, ethics, and dedication to enhancing the profession. Since 2016, he has served in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), providing expert advice on accounting and assurance matters to protect investors and ensure the stability of the Canadian financial system. Alex specializes in IFRS and has shared his expertise throughout his career. As a professor for over 15 years at Schulich School of Business, he is a four-time recipient of the Seymour Schulich Award for Teaching Excellence and was awarded Adjunct Professor status in 2021.

Alex has authored dozens of publications, guides, and articles on a range of financial accounting topics. Beyond his professional achievements, Alex is deeply committed to diversity – he serves as Faculty Advisor to the Schulich Pride Alliance and is a founding member of the Inclusion and Diversity Council at the OSC. Alex is also an active volunteer, providing financial literacy education to young kids and mentoring future CPAs.
